CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co. (CSPC), a 50-50 joint venture of CNOOC Petrochemicals Investment Co. and Shell Nanhai BV, has picked LyondellBasell’s Spherizone process technology for a new polypropylene (PP) line at the Nanhai petrochemicals complex in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China. CSPC will utilize the technology for a 500 kta PP plant to be built on the site. This represents the second Spherizone line from a total of five new polyolefin lines, licensed from LyondellBasell at the Huizhou site. Spherizone process technology continues to demonstrate the ability to produce differentiated polymer grades in the highly competitive Chinese market.
