GS Caltex Awards KBR Technology Contract For Plastics Circularity Facility in S. Korea
KBR has been awarded a contract from GS Caltex to provide plastics recycling technology for GS Caltex’s planned plastics circularity project in South Korea. The 50 kta unit, based on KBR and Mura’s Hydro-PRT process, will convert waste plastics into raw materials for conversion into new plastics, achieving total circularity. GS Caltex would begin pilot production of propylene using oil extracted from plastic waste in a pyrolysis process at its Yeosu site in South Korea. GS Caltex said if the pilot project proved successful, the company would build a waste plastic oil production facility with 50 kta of capacity, which would start up in 2024.
