Lotte Chemical Co. is planning to acquire the Elastomer Division of JSR Corp. for an undisclosed amount. JSR has solution styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) production facilities in Japan, Thailand, and Hungary with a total production capacity of 170 kta, and produces a total of 600 kta of synthetic rubber. Its synthetic rubber production includes styrene-butadiene rubber, polybutadiene rubber, ethylene-propylene rubber, and compounded products. JSR is seeking up to 1-trillion won for the Elastomer Division, but that amount is expected to change to reflect the effects of COVID-19 on the division.
