Zhejiang Awards Contract to DuPont For Refining & PC Project in China
Zhejiang Petroleum and Chemical Co. (ZPC) has awarded a contract to DuPont for a sulfuric acid regeneration SAR unit as part of ZPC's refining and petrochemical project being built on Dayushan Island in China. The USD 15 billion project, which is the largest privately-led refining and petrochemical project in China, will be executed in two phases with the first phase coming on stream in late 2018. After completion, the complex will have a refining capacity of 40 mta. Under the contract, DuPont will provide the engineering, technology license and proprietary equipment for a MECS SAR unit, licensed by DuPont Clean Technologies, which will have a capacity to regenerate 858 tons of spent sulfuric acid. DuPont's SAR dry gas technology produces the desired sulfuric acid products for upstream alkylation, acrylonitrile and methyl methacrylate unit performance. Honeywell received a contract earlier this year to provide a range of Honeywell UOP technologies for the project, including processes for the production of 4 mta of paraxylene, and construction of a new Oleflex propane dehydrogenation unit to produce 600 kta of polymer-grade propylene.
