Propylene Prices Witness a Rise in Asia
SK Global Chemical (SKGC), is in plans to prolong the shutdown of its No. 1 fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit. The company is likely to resume operations at the plant by early-July, 2020. The unit was shut for maintenance in mid-May, 2020, and was supposed to remain off-line for about five weeks. Located in Ulsan, South Korea, the No.1 FCC unit has a propylene production capacity of 150 kta. In other plant news, Mitsui Chemicals has undertaken a planned maintenance shutdown at its naphtha cracker, on June 11, 2020. The cracker is slated to remain off-line for about 40 days. The cracker has an ethylene capacity of 500 kta and a propylene capacity of 280 kta that is located in Osaka, Japan.
