Eneos & MCC Complete Construction Of Chem Recycling Facility in Japan

Eneos Corp. and Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. (MCC) have completed construction of a chemical recycling facility at MCC’s Ibaraki plant in Kamisu City, Japan. The 20 kta unit, which had been under construction since July 2021, employs Mura’s hydrothermal plastic recycling technology to chemically break down waste plastic procured externally and convert it into oil. The recycled oil will be used as feedstock at both companies’ existing refinery and naphtha cracker and reprocessed into petroleum products and various chemicals and plastics. In addition, the facility plans to obtain ISCC Plus certification to be able to offer various products made from recycled oil.
