Hanwha TotalEnergies Begins Operation Of Carbon Capture Pilot Unit at NCC
Hanwha TotalEnergies has started up a new carbon capture pilot unit at its naphtha cracking center (NCC) in South Korea. The pilot facility plans to capture 20 ton per day of carbon dioxide generated from the NCC over a period of about 12 months. The captured carbon dioxide will be supplied to joint research and development institutions and will be used to produce samples of polyurethane adhesive materials. This demonstration run is the first case of directly capturing carbon from the NCC, a core petrochemical process. The company will accelerate securing competitiveness in eco-friendly technologies by linking various carbon utilization technologies currently under study with the results of this demonstration.
