Neste, Marubeni & Resonac to Partner On Renewable Chemicals in Japan

Neste, Marubeni Corp. and Resonac have entered into a cooperative agreement to enable the production of renewable olefins and derivatives in Japan. As part of the cooperation, Neste RE, a Neste-produced renewable raw material will be used to manufacture renewable olefins and derivatives at Resonac’s Oita complex in Japan.  Marubeni will coordinate all logistical arrangements from Neste to Resonac. Neste RE, which consists of pure hydrocarbons, is used in steam crackers to replace conventional feedstock such as fossil naphtha in chemicals value chains, contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Last year, Resonac achieved ISCC Plus certification for its Oita complex where it introduced biomass material into its ethylene plant. Products that can be deployed with the certification include ethyl.
