LanzaTech Inks Agreement with Sekisui For Waste-to-Ethanol Plants in Japan
LanzaTech Global announced the signing of a master license agreement with Sekisui Chemical Co. to develop multiple Japanese waste-to-ethanol facilities. The two companies agree to deploy, at commercial scale, a jointly derived platform that converts syngas derived from municipal solid waste and industrial solid waste into ethanol. Sekisui plans to build several plants across Japan which incorporate equipment packages, engineering and advisory services, consumables, and intellectual property provided by LanzaTech. The first facility is expected to produce 10 kta to 12 kta of ethanol. The synthetic alcohol output can be converted into ethylene and kerosene. Signing this agreement is an important next step on our path to commercializing this game-changing technology and realizing Sekisui’s vision of a more sustainable, low-carbon society for future generations.
