Kuraray will increase its shareholding in Kuraray GC Advanced Materials Co. through the purchase of a 20.1% stake from PTT Global Chemical (GC). Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Kuraray GC Advanced Materials is engaged in the manufacturing and sales of butadiene derivatives. It is currently owned by Kuraray (53.3%), GC (33.4%) and Sumitomo Corp. (13%). Following the transaction, which is scheduled to close on 20 Oct. 2025, Kuraray GC Advanced Materials will be held by Kuraray (73.4%), GC (13.3%) and Sumitomo (13.3%). Kuraray announced that five vinyl acetate-related products produced at three plants in Japan have acquired ISCC Plus certification. The certification covers vinyl acetate monomer, Poval and Exceval brand polyvinyl alcohol resin, and Eval brand ethylene vinyl alcohol resin and film at the Okayama plant, as well as optical-use Poval film at its Kurashiki and Saijo facilities.
